The people attending this class must be able to get on and off the floor. Exercise literacy covers anatomy, physiology and movement concepts. Progressive exercise includes spinal stabilization, core strength, hip function/health, postural alignment and balance. The exercises are a combination of yoga, martial arts, Pilates, cross-fit and sport-specific training. Build confidence with progressive exercise in a safe environment. The exercises can be built into the activities of daily living and done anywhere. Participants will also be able to gauge their own progress.

Barb Turner is currently a kinesiologist at Alberta Health Services and has taught an exercise program called STEP Forward for 13 years. She has a University of Alberta degree in kinesiology with specialization in injury assessment, injury prevention and exercise. Barb is certified through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiologists and has specialized certifications in obesity management, Parkinson’s, MS, persistent pain, older adults, portable equipment, personal training and focus on core strength. She has taught at the University of Alberta in aging and osteoporosis and is a wellness coach with the International Federation of Life Coaching.
